The work integrated forest inventory, management alternatives, silvicultural guidance, monitoring, fire and hazardous-fuels considerations, tribal goals, environmental mapping, and natural-resource review. Services included: Forest inventory and forest-resource analysis Forest Management Plan amendment preparation Environmental Assessment and NEPA alternatives analysis Reservation, trust-land, forest-type, and environmental mapping Tribal goals and objectives coordination Monitoring, silvicultural, and hazardous-fuels planning Water, wetland, wildlife, threatened-species, land-use, and soil-resource review High Plains Power 69-kV Transmission Line Replacement Environmental Assessment Location: Wind River Indian Reservation, Wyoming Natural Systems Analysts prepared the Environmental Assessment for replacement of a 12.1-mile transmission-line segment through the Wind River Indian Reservation. Services included route and utility-corridor review, affected-environment and environmental- consequences analysis, GIS and field-information integration, wetland and water-resource review, mitigation development, and BIA coordination support. The assignment integrated GPS field surveys, GIS analysis, National Wetlands Inventory review, and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers wetland delineation methods to verify previously identified wetlands and evaluate the proposed corridor. Services included: Wetland reassessment and field verification GPS field surveys and GIS analysis National Wetlands Inventory mapping review Application of U.S. Army Corps of Engineers wetland delineation methods Pipeline-corridor environmental review Permitting and environmental compliance support Mitigation planning for sensitive wetland crossings Additional Reservation-Scale Planning Experience Natural Systems Analysts has developed a technical approach for reservation-wide prairie dog mapping at the Fort Belknap Reservation and has participated as a proposed environmental and forestry subcontractor for BIA Forest Management Plans and companion Environmental Assessments. These efforts demonstrate the ability to organize multidisciplinary teams, structure GIS-based natural-resource inventories, integrate tribal objectives, and prepare technically responsive federal environmental work plans. Phase I Environmental Site Assessment Support Natural Systems Analysts supports Phase I Environmental Site Assessment assignments through field reconnaissance, GIS-based property review, land-use evaluation, environmental issue identification, photographic documentation, and preparation of site-specific technical materials. Field reviews may address potential petroleum and chemical storage, agricultural chemical handling, waste disposal areas, wells, septic systems, drainage pathways, disturbed ground, adjoining-property conditions, and other visible indicators requiring evaluation by the Environmental Professional. Phase I findings are integrated with available historical information, environmental database results, interviews, property records, aerial imagery, and other project documentation. Final determinations regarding Recognized Environmental Conditions, Controlled Recognized Environmental Conditions, and Historical Recognized Environmental Conditions are made by the qualified Environmental Professional based on the complete body of information.
